2. What TwinkleTrail is
TwinkleTrail is a community-powered platform that lets users discover, submit, rate, and share Christmas light displays across the United Kingdom. Display listings, photos, and reviews are contributed by members of the public and are not verified by us as accurate or complete.
We are not responsible for the quality, safety, or legality of any display listed, nor for the accuracy of information submitted by users.
3. Submitting display listings
You must only submit the address of a display with the permission of the person or organisation responsible for that property. Do not submit a private residential address without the knowledge and consent of the householder.
Many displays are intentionally public — the homeowner has set them up to be viewed and shared. However, if you are in any doubt about whether a property owner would welcome their address being listed on this platform, please do not submit it.
When you submit a display you confirm that:
- The information you provide is accurate and up to date to the best of your knowledge.
- You have reasonable grounds to believe the property owner is happy for the display to be listed publicly.
- You are not submitting a display for the purpose of harassing, targeting, or drawing unwanted attention to a person or property.
- You understand that all submissions are reviewed before going live, and we reserve the right to reject or remove any listing without explanation.
If you are a property owner and wish to have your address removed from TwinkleTrail, please contact us and we will act promptly.
4. Uploading photos
Only upload photos that you took yourself, or that you have explicit written permission from the copyright holder to share. Do not upload photos taken by someone else without their consent.
When uploading a photo you confirm that:
- You are the photographer, or you hold a valid licence or permission to publish the image.
- The photo does not clearly identify individuals who have not consented to their image being shared publicly (for example, close-up photos of people standing in front of a display).
- You grant TwinkleTrail a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display the photo on the platform.
- You understand that photos may be reviewed and removed if they breach these terms.
Do not upload images that are misleading, offensive, or unrelated to the display in question.
5. Ratings and reviews
You may rate and review displays you have personally visited. Ratings should be honest, fair, and based on your genuine experience. You must not:
- Submit fake, paid, or incentivised reviews.
- Post reviews designed to harm a specific person or property owner.
- Submit multiple reviews for the same display from one or multiple accounts.
- Use reviews to post spam, advertising, or off-topic content.
6. Acceptable use
You must not use TwinkleTrail to:
- Post false, misleading, or defamatory information.
- Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users or property owners.
- Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the platform in bulk without our written consent.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service.
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or other harmful material.
- Violate any applicable UK law or regulation.
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban any account that breaches these rules.
7. User accounts
You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account. Keep your login credentials secure and do not share your account with others.
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
8. Removal of content
We reserve the right to remove any listing, photo, review, or other user-generated content at our sole discretion — particularly where it breaches these terms, may harm an individual, or is inaccurate.

9. Privacy
We take your privacy seriously. Our approach to address data is deliberately conservative — public-facing pages display only a street name and partial postcode; the precise location is shown only on the map, which is not indexable text. Full addresses are stored securely and are not published.

10. Limitation of liability
TwinkleTrail is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content on the platform.

11. Governing law
These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
